How Does Hierarchy Customization Work for Collections and Products? (Advanced Plan Only)

By default, our app builds breadcrumb trails using the menu you select in the app block settings. When rendering breadcrumbs for a collection or product, the app:

• Looks for a matching path in the selected menu

• Uses the first match it finds as the breadcrumb trail

Hierarchy Priority Logic

When multiple hierarchy sources are available, the app follows this priority:

For Collections:

Customized Collection Hierarchy → Menu Hierarchy

For Products:

Customized Product Hierarchy → Customized Collection Hierarchy → Menu Hierarchy

This means you have full control over how breadcrumbs are rendered on a per-product or per-collection basis.

Optional Block-Level Override

Each breadcrumbs block includes a setting:

✅ “Don’t override the menu hierarchy”

If this checkbox is enabled:

• The app will ignore custom product or collection hierarchies

• Breadcrumbs will be built only from the selected menu structure

This setup gives you both simplicity and flexibility — ideal for advanced merchants with complex category structures or custom navigation needs.
