Assigning Parent-Child Collection Relationships
The core functionality of Subcollection Category Surf relies on correctly identifying parent and child relationships between collections. This allows the app to automatically show relevant subcollections under their associated parent categories.
Here’s how to configure these relationships:
- From the app dashboard, click on the “Collection Mapping” tab.
- Select a Parent Collection from the dropdown list. This will be the collection page where you want the subcollections to appear.
- Browse through the available collections and check the boxes for all Child Collections that should be shown beneath the selected parent.
- Repeat this process for each parent collection you want to organize.
- Once all relationships are mapped, click Save Mapping to apply.
Things to know:
- A single child collection can belong to multiple parent collections. For example, “Spring Jackets” might appear under both “Men’s Clothing” and “Spring Collection.”
- You can remove or update these mappings at any time without affecting the original collections in Shopify.
Correct mapping ensures that customers see a logical, easy-to-follow category structure—improving navigation and time spent on site. If subcollections aren’t showing as expected, double-check the parent-child assignments here first.
